Blue Lakes are unique natural features located along the Katun River or its tributaries. They are famous for their bright turquoise water color, which varies depending on the time of day and weather conditions. This effect occurs due to the high content of minerals (for example, gypsum) in the water, as well as the depth of reservoirs, which can reach several tens of meters.
These lakes are often compared to the precious stones scattered across the Altai Mountains. Each of them has its own character and history, which makes them even more interesting for travelers.
